People text when they’re in class, walking, doing homework, eating dinner, and pretty much anywhere, anytime they can. Texting is a form of communication. Some use it rarely, others use it daily. Personally I use texting because I don’t want to hear the person’s voice or simply because it’s easier when the conversation is short. I prefer to text because I’m usually busy and can’t talk on the phone.
If you think about it…if you were to actually talk to the people you text, you would probably feel uncomfortable or have awkward moments. Through texting that doesn’t happen. People have time to think about what they want to say or even if they want to text back or not.
My dislikes about texting: I dislike the fact that when a person texts you “Hey, what are you doing?” I reply whatever it is I’m doing and ask them what they are doing. They text back with whatever they’re doing and that’s it. I think to myself “So what was the point of texting me...To see what I was up to?” I don’t understand, and frustratingly I get those kinds of texts often. Another dislike would be when people take forever to text back (I’m being sarcastic, of course but you get the idea). My last dislike would be when you have your phone in your hand, you’ve been texting for a while and once you put it in your pocket…you get a text. I think “Really?!! I just put my phone away and you decide to text me?”
Texting….everybody does it I think. Enjoyable, simple and sometimes annoying.
I agree so much about waiting for a text and not getting a reply until you put the phone down or away.
ReplyDeleteI hate getting the "what are you doing" texts!
ReplyDeleteIt's so pointless.....
Haha. I agree. That's why I love texting. I have time to think about what I'm going to say so I don't look stupid. I too dislike when right after I put my phone away, I get a text, so then I'm forced to reach back into phone case and take it back out. Good points in this blog.
ReplyDeleteHow about people who write "Hey, what are you doing?" on your blog?. Does that drive you crazy?
ReplyDeleteI hate those delayed responses too!
Its true, somethings that we text are not really things that we would comfortably talk about to one another.
ReplyDeleteyeah "what are you doing" texts are pointless if theyre not going to carry on a conversation
